American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators’ (AAMVA) Annual Region 4 Conference is the largest gathering of motor vehicle administrators in the Western region. Region 4 conference offers attendees an opportunity to connect, discuss strategies, and exchange insights on navigating the trends impacting motor vehicle and law enforcement agencies.

The 2019 conference will cover a range of topics including data privacy, customer engagement, mobile driver licenses, elimination of fraud and people management in the age of digital DMV.

Session description

Jurisdictions are recruiting new generation of employees that seek experience and learning. At the same time, they are losing their most talented and experienced employees to retirement – a trend popularly called the Silver Tsunami. A survey by LIMRA found that 80% of agencies report loss of precious institutional knowledge and best-practices because of silver tsunami.

This loss of knowledge, coupled with inadequate training programs, seriously impacts learning and development of employees and almost 80% of state and local HR managers rate staff training and development as the most important issue facing their agency.

Jurisdictions need to make learning convenient, relevant, fun and engaging. They can do this by digitizing their learning systems and processes. A key enabler of this digitization will be a cloud-first and mobile-first learning platform that can deliver training and development programs to employees anytime, anywhere and on any device, in a format that they need. A number of organizations across industries are using such platforms to help employees learn in an agile environment, and acquire the right skills for the digital world.

In this session, I’ll discuss these examples and elaborate how DMV agencies can build a digital platform to re-think learning and development for their employees.

Kannan Rajagopal

Kannan is a senior industry principal and leads the motor vehicle and driver licensing practice for Infosys Public Services. Kannan is responsible for North America DMV consulting business operations and services offerings. He also defines the business strategy for the group, enables business development efforts, manages unit operations, leads the PMO Center of Excellence (CoE) practice and large modernization/transformation engagements.
